| WHY TESTS, TRIALS AND TEMPTATIONS? June 13, 2008 17:59:00Today I want us to focus on the purpose of tests, trials and temptations. I believe many of you might have heard of the common belief which says, “The moment you become born again, you are exempted from all the tests and trials of life.” I wish this was so, however, I am sorry to say this is a lie which has been accepted by many Christians. This is the main reason most people give up and backslide when they encounter such trials. The Christian walk is not free from the tribulations of life. In fact any time we go through a test, we become strong. Let me put it this way, faith will not lead you out of trouble, however, it will lead you through the trouble to victory. That sounds encouraging, doesn’t it?
John 16:33 says “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” These words were directly from the lips of our Master, Jesus Christ. I would like everyone reading this article to meditate on this verse several times until your spirit catches the revelation. Let the words “but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world” be in your heart all the time. This is to say that, no matter what happens, we are bound to be victorious. Recently I went through a tough trial which left me wondering if God was still with me. While I was in the trial I did a lot of reading and meditation. While reading the book of Daniel, I realized that God was there and in fact he knew Daniel would be thrown into the Lion’s Den. Did he rescue him from going into the Den? No, he had to go into the Den to bring Glory to his name. So Daniel went into the Den, and it was in the lion’s Den that we saw the power of God. What shall I say about the three Hebrew men, they also had to go through the furnace for us to see how God miraculously saves. Let us talk about Abraham who had to endure to receive the promise of God. Let us remember that without a test there is no testimony and without a trial, there is no triumph. Do you think God did not know that the Israelites were going to face a Red Sea on their way from Egypt? I guess you would agree with me that HE knew. Then why did he not open the sea before they reached there. I believe it was all for a purpose. It was when they reached the Red Sea that they realized God could divide the sea into two.
Let’s hear what did the Apostle Paul had to say about this. I would suggest that every reader takes time to read the second book of Corinthians with special emphasis on the twelfth chapter. I would however quote the tenth verse when Paul said “Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christs sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.” In one of Smith Wigglesworth’s books he says, “There cannot be a victory without a battle, great victories comes from great battles.” Let us remember the words of Jesus in John 16:33 when he said, “In me ye might have peace.” Any time we go through a test, let us know that it is an opportunity for the Glory of God to be revealed in our lives. In times like these, prayer should be our main priority. We should also join Christians who have been in such situations to encourage us and help us with their prayers. Our lips should be filled with prayers all the time. In fact, as Christians, prayer should be as natural as breathing and as enjoyable as eating.
Let us analyze some situations in which we see the power of God. It is in need that we experience financial breakthroughs; it is in sickness that we experience our healing; Just like Joseph it is after the prison that we see the palace, Like the three Hebrew men, it is in the furnace that we see the fourth man who is like the son of God, Like Abraham, it is in our old age that we see God making the impossible situation possible, Like Daniel, it is in the Lion’s Den that we see God shutting the mouths of the lions, Like Jonah it is in the stomach of the Whale that we see God can sustain human beings in such situations, Like Moses, it is facing the Red Sea that we see that God can divide the sea into two, Like Isaac, it is in the midst of famine that we get to know that God can provide our needs no matter where we are, Like Jacob, it is wrestling with an angel that we get to experience a change of name and experience the blessing of the Lord, Like Paul and Silas, it is the prison that we see the miraculous intervention of God through his angels, Like Peter in the prison, it is after the prayers of the church that we see the deliverance of God, Like Our Master Jesus Christ, it is facing five thousand hungry men beside women and children that we see divine multiplication, Like Jesus, it is facing a violent storm that we get to know the power of speaking to circumstances, Like David, it is facing Goliath that we get to believe in the power of words, Like Esther, it is facing persecutions that we get to know the power of fasting, Like Elijah, it is facing our fears that we get know God still has his eyes on us, Like Naman, it is suffering from leprosy that we know that it pays to obey the word of the prophet no matter how absurd it sounds like, Like King Jehoshaphat, it is facing an army that is beyond our strength that we trust God for miraculous breakthroughs, Like the crippled man at the Gate called Beautiful, it is our expectation to receive that we get our healing, Like Bartimaeus, it is being blind that we taste sight for the first time, Like Noah, it is working on the ark for one hundred and twenty years that we get to accept the fact that God honors his word no matter how long it takes, Like Hannah it is facing ridicule and shame as a result of bareness that we see wombs being opened, Like King Hezekiah, it is turning our face to the wall in the situation of death that we experience an extension of our lives on earth, Like the widow of Zarephath, it is experiencing lack and giving our last meal that we experience continuous abundance. This list goes on and on. We could talk of King Solomon, Ruth, Job, Samson, Nehemiah, Jabez and all the other heroes of faith but space would not allow me to do so. In all their success, you would realize that, it was preceded by a test, trial or temptation. I would like you to do something for me. I will write a sentence and I would like you to put your name in it. Like ………………….. , it in the midst of ………………………., that I experience the………………….. Of God.
I strongly believe this message has been a blessing to you. Continue increasing in grace and faith. May the Lord protect and shower his peace on you. God bless you for taking time to read this. Catch you later in my next article.

| Home Again Home Again.... May 16, 2008 04:56:00Hopefully within the next month Walk for the Lord will have another author contributing! I wont say much more about it then that just in case it doesnt work out, but it should bring a whole new dimension to the blog!
Ive been home since Wednesday night, and its extremely good to be back. God has really been working wonders and miracles at my house and new relationships between my siblings and parents have really started to flourish, all because of my almighty Father.
I have been having some discontent recently. Its an unrest inside of me... recently I renewed a World of Warcraft subscription to play along with some friends who have been playing it since Ive been in college. Since then I really feel discontent, within me. I almost want to say its within my soul. I dont know if its God telling me not to do this, to stand out and to press into Him , and not to press into video games. One of my thoughts to try and make myself feel better about renewing the $15.99 (I believe) monthly subscription to the game was that it would allow me to connect to my friends again and quicker, so I could share my new life with Christ with them, and the gospel. Somehow, the method (or you could say path) Ive chosen to present them with it doesnt seem quite right.
Theres also another situation. Theres a certain role playing activity that a lot of my old high school friends and I used to play. Its really one of the only things that will really allow us to reconnect and even one of the fewer things that will bring us all back together to hang out with each other over the summer for one purpose. In my new life, I feel like this game is ... wrong. I dont know if I would call it satanic, but its extremely secular and isnt Christian at all. My problem is wanting to connect with my friends and show them my "new" life at the same time, without being turned back into my old self.
I dont want to be forced into sin attempting to show them the Truth.
Anyone have any thoughts? They would be a major help!
