August 5, 2008 03:17:16 Todays White River Northern Cheyennes are descendants of the Northern Cheyenne Who fled from Oklahoma Territory in 1878 to return home to Montana. They were pursued by thousands of soldiers from the U.S. Cavalry as well as white settlers.
Ted Rising sun was a long-time leader, historian, and linguist among the Northern Cheyenne of Montana.

American Indian bone fragments have been unearthed at a Bolsa Chica Mesa construction site where a residential community is planned.
California Native American Heritage Commission officials say the Brightwater Hearthside Homes site may be an ancient burial ground of international importance. Half the 174 bone fragments were found in the past 18 months.
Commission program analyst Dave Singleton says the property was once shared by the Juaneno Band of Mission Indians and Gabrieleno-Tongva.
