How Do I Adjust The Size Of My Photos?

Tuesday, July 7th, 2009

This is a question we get quite a bit and luckily, we have an answer for you.

Since digital cameras are able to take enormous photos these days, many digital photos have rather large file sizes. These large file sizes are sometimes troublesome for a variety of website upload systems. If you have ever tried to post one of your digital photos to a website and received an error message telling you the file is too large, your camera setting is most likely the problem.

So, what can I do?

Well, for starters, you can adjust the resolution of the photos you plan to take right on the camera itself. If you are planning on using your photos for simple postings on the internet, there is no reason to have your camera set to take the highest quality photographs. Actually, the “email” setting would most likely do just fine.

What can I do if I already took the photos?

If you already took the photos and can’t take them again, there are a whole bunch of online photo resizing websites out there that can assist in resizing your photos. They are free and complete the process in a matter of seconds. One website we have had good luck with can be found by clicking here. Basically, you would just upload your original photo, choose the settings and go from there. The instructions are very simple.

Does that help? If so, great. If not, be sure to contact us so we can explain further.

Resize Images Online

Friday, June 19th, 2009

Many of our support requests have to do with having difficulty uploading images to place in your ads.

Many people take photos with their digital cameras and either don’t know or forget to change the setting on their camera to “web.” This means the picture they took is going to produce both a large picture and a large file size, giving our system trouble.

We discovered a great photo resizing tool online the other day that can greatly help out with this issue. Now, you can take the photo off your camera and upload it to this website. The website will automatically reduce the size of the photo to the size you select (we would suggest 700px under the custom setting) and you can easily upload the resized photo to your ad.

Visit ShrinkPictures.com here.

Give it a try and let us know how the tool works.
