Exposing Live Scams

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

As you may already know, the internet is full of scams. It seems like there are people who make scamming others a full time job. Oh wait, there are. Yes, that’s right, there are people out there who live off scamming others. Just ask anyone who works for those really large auction and classifieds websites. I’m sure they will tell you all about it.

It’s really a shame. It’s a shame that good, hardworking website operators have to deal with this type of nonsense day in and day out. One can’t complain about it too much though. We just have to accept it as part of doing what we do.

With our websites, we are relentless at dealing with internet scammers. We hate them and we block them everywhere we can. You may have already seen our “Scam Alert” pages on our websites. Those pages have become so popular that other classified website owners have taken the liberty of using our text on their websites (which is not allowed).

A while back, we added the “Scam Alert” page to this website, our “Support Blog.” It’s been a central place to list all active scams. What’s new about this page is that it’s become alive. From here on out, we will be listing many live scams as we come across them.

What does this mean to you? Well, if you are a seller on WebLeeg, PetLeeg, CycleLeeg, BoatLeeg or AutoLeeg and receive an email from someone interested in your product, you can check out our scam alert page here:

http://www.blogleeg.com/2009/06/17/protect-yourself-from-internet-scams/

to see if the email you received is listed as a scam. Even if you don’t find it, you should still be very cautious and do your homework before dealing with anyone on the internet. We will do our best at listing scams as we find them, but we can’t make any promises that we’ll list them all. This is simply a resource to help you make informed choices. The ultimate responsibility lies with you.

Resize Images Online

Friday, June 19th, 2009

Many of our support requests have to do with having difficulty uploading images to place in your ads.

Many people take photos with their digital cameras and either don’t know or forget to change the setting on their camera to “web.” This means the picture they took is going to produce both a large picture and a large file size, giving our system trouble.

We discovered a great photo resizing tool online the other day that can greatly help out with this issue. Now, you can take the photo off your camera and upload it to this website. The website will automatically reduce the size of the photo to the size you select (we would suggest 700px under the custom setting) and you can easily upload the resized photo to your ad.

Visit ShrinkPictures.com here.

Give it a try and let us know how the tool works.

How To Submit A Support Ticket

Thursday, June 18th, 2009

I know some of you have gotten used to our old support ticket system, but I’m sure you’ll find this system much easier.

Okay, you may ask, “How do I submit a support ticket?” Well, it’s really simple.

1. First, visit our FAQ page and give it a quick once over to make sure we haven’t already answered your question. In many cases, other have already asked the same question and we covered it on the FAQ page.

2. If you can’t find the answer, then visit our Contact page, fill out the form and hit submit. Please remember to fill out all the appropriate areas and to be as descriptive as you can. That’s going to help us.

3. Wait for an email back. We usually answer ticket within 24 hours. We’ll get back to you ASAP.

New Support Blog

Thursday, June 18th, 2009

We have been thinking about this for a while – keep our regular support system with its “knowledgebase” and “news” sections or move our support area over to more of a blog type system. We decided to go with the blog type system.

There are a few reasons for this:

1. Updating our members is a heck of a lot easier this way. Also, I think people using the internet find blogs more inviting and easier to read. Sometimes those ticket systems are a bit challenging. Since virtually everyone has seen a blog (whether you know it or not) we think this is the way to go as far as keeping you guys informed.

2. Tickets can now be submitted via contact form and we can respond via email. It’s just easier and takes out a few steps for everyone involved. Over on this side, we like to keep things simple.

3. Blogging is versatile. With the blogging system we are using, if we decide to add a feature, it’s very easy. If we decide to mix it up somehow, it’s more simple than our previous system.

4. It’s less expensive. This blogging system is free. Our last support system cost money. Nuff said.

If you have suggestions or if you think we’re missing something, please use the “Contact” link above to tell us about it.
