As you may already know, along with offering free classified ads with one free photo per ad, we also offer the opportunity to upgrade each ad with an attention getter, bolding, featured placement, etc… We offer those upgrades for a small fee.
Up until recently, the only payment service we had running on our websites was Paypal. Paypal is quite versatile and accomplishes everything that we need it to accomplish. You can either pay through your Paypal account or pay without having a Paypal account at all. Payment through Paypal without a Paypal account is a relatively new feature that many people aren’t aware of yet.
Occasionally, we do get an email or two that states something like this, “I am not willing to pay through Paypal…(for whatever reason).” We usually respond to these emails letting the member know that you no longer need a Paypal account to use Paypal as a payment processor. Still, many members are not willing to use Paypal.
Because of this, we decided to add some choice to our payment options. Starting a few days ago, we have enlisted the services of 2CheckOut. 2Checkout.com, Inc. is now an authorized retailer of WebLeeg® and PetLeeg® and will be for the remainder of our classifieds websites in the coming weeks.

2CheckOut
Through 2CheckOut, you can pay in a multiple of ways. You can use Paypal, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover and a few more. It’s really a simple a streamlined service and we hope you find it useful.
Good luck and please let us know if there is anything you can suggest that would benefit our websites.

I think by this point, we have all seen the numerous television and internet reports on the climbing jobless rates in this country. While some states have risen faster than others, the situation is pretty grim. Just yesterday I was reading a news story that said the national jobless rate is now over 10% with some states being dramatically higher.
There isn’t much many people can do about this besides continuously look for work. When you are up against thousands of other people for the same job, it’s easily understood that many people just want to give up.
After I read that depressing article yesterday, I got an idea. I went over to our “Employment” category on WebLeeg and poked around a bit. I noticed that we had tons of “Help Wanted” categories, but no categories for people who would like to advertise themselves…as people, as hardworking people, as hardworking people with marketable skills. How did we overlook this?
I think every little bit helps. If we (as a website) can set up a category in our employment area that helps people market themselves, then that’s what’s going to happen and that’s what we did. If you take a look now, you’ll find a “Job Seekers / Resumes” category under the main employment category. There, you are able to post your story and resume if you wish.
Okay, with anything like this, there are a few rules:
1. Don’t ruin this. Please don’t post junk. No one likes junk ads and we’ll try to clean them out daily if we find them.
2. Don’t post personally identifiable information. You shouldn’t post your name, phone number and other information that you might want to keep private. If a legitimate business is interested in you, they can contact you through our contact form. Also, don’t post your email address. That’s an invitation for spam. Keep is general like this: “Bright, motivated individual with ten years experience in manufacturing widgets available for full time work in the Miami, FL area.” Of course, you can add more details, but make it so the general public doesn’t know who you are. That’s just an all around basic internet rule.
3. Don’t spam people who are trying to find a job. It’s stressful enough dealing with this kind of thing, but when you have to put up with spammers, it makes matters worse.
If you have any suggestions on how we can make this area of our website even better, please contact us. We are always looking for suggestions. Thank you and good luck.

This post refers to WebLeeg, PetLeeg, CycleLeeg, BoatLeeg and AutoLeeg.
So, you’re wondering if our service is really free. How can that be? How do we make any money? We’ve heard it all. Let us take this opportunity to clearly explain what is and what isn’t free on our websites.
Yes, our service is free. You may register at no cost. Also at no cost, you may place an unlimited number of ads. Lastly, at no cost, you may upload one photo for each ad you place. We’ll put that in bullet points so it’s easier to read:
- Free registration
- Free placement of an unlimited number of ads
- One free photo per ad
- No cost to renew your free ads (ads without upgrades)
That’s a pretty good deal. That’s why we say our service is free…because it is. We can estimate that our free service covers about 99% of people out there. All those people are content with using nothing more than what we offer at no cost.
Now, we know that there are a good number of people who are interested in more than what our free service offers. They want their ads to be different. They want their ads to stand out from the other ads on the website. We get that, so we set up some paid featured that will enable your ad to be different than many others on our websites. We call these paid features upgrades. We’ll list these paid upgrades using bullet points so they are easy to read:
- $5 for featured ad on website homepage.
- $4 for featured ad on category page
- $4 to have your ad title and text bolded and the box it is in on the category page colored
- $4 to have your ad placed in a more favorable position as compared to other ads that do not have this upgrade
- $3 to add a small graphic called an “attention getter” next to the title of your ad
- $2 each to add additional photos beyond the one free photo we allow per ad (we allow a total of 12 photos per ad)
*** Just to be clear, you are in no way obligated to pay for any of these upgrades in order to place an ad on our websites. You can still, at any time, place free ads and upload one free photo per ad you place. ***
Okay, now we’ll explain some common questions we get about each upgrade:
- Featured ad on homepage – When you pay for this upgrade, your ad will be placed in the mix with other ads of the same status. We currently have 20 places on our homepages that show featured ads. There are 12 spots toward the center of the homepage and 8 more toward the bottom of the page. The 12 ads toward the center of the homepage show an ad photo, the 8 ads toward the bottom of the page do not. Since there are usually more than this number ads on our website that have this featured upgrade, all featured ads can not show on the homepage at the same time. Because of this, our system randomly rotates featured ads to show on the homepage. Your ad may not show every time you load the page, but it will show randomly throughout the day for as long as your ad runs.
- Featured ads on category pages – This type of ad is very similar to the featured ad shown directly above. The only difference is that this ad is featured on the category pages and not the homepage. When your ad has this upgrade, your ad will rotate among other ads with the same status. Like above, your ad may not show all the time if there are more than 10 featured ads in the category your ad is featured in. We show featured ads at both the top and bottom of category pages.
- Ad bolding and coloring – This upgrade is fairly straightforward. When you pay for this upgrade, the title and description snippet is bolded on the category page that your ad is located on. Also, the box your ad is shown in will be colored more vibrantly than other ads that don’t have this upgrade attached to them.
- Ad better placement – When you pay for this upgrade, your ad will be put into better placement status on the respective category page when compared to other ads without this upgrade. This means that if your upgraded ad is listed in a category with 21 other ads that don’t have this upgrade, your ad will show at the top of the list of regular ads. This does not include featured ads. Featured ads on the category page will show above better placement ads. If there is more than one ad with the better placement upgrade in the category your ad is placed in, your ad will randomly rotate among these other ads.
- Ad attention getters – This is fairly straightforward as well. When you purchase this upgrade, your ad will simply have the graphic of your choosing next to the title.
- Additional photos – Again, we allow you to upload one free photo per ad. If you would like to upload more photos to display with your ad, you may at the cost of $2 per additional photo. We allow a total of 12 photos per classified ad.
We hope this clearly explains how our service is free and how you are given the ability to pay for upgrades at our classifieds websites. As always, if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

As you may already know, the internet is full of scams. It seems like there are people who make scamming others a full time job. Oh wait, there are. Yes, that’s right, there are people out there who live off scamming others. Just ask anyone who works for those really large auction and classifieds websites. I’m sure they will tell you all about it.
It’s really a shame. It’s a shame that good, hardworking website operators have to deal with this type of nonsense day in and day out. One can’t complain about it too much though. We just have to accept it as part of doing what we do.
With our websites, we are relentless at dealing with internet scammers. We hate them and we block them everywhere we can. You may have already seen our “Scam Alert” pages on our websites. Those pages have become so popular that other classified website owners have taken the liberty of using our text on their websites (which is not allowed).
A while back, we added the “Scam Alert” page to this website, our “Support Blog.” It’s been a central place to list all active scams. What’s new about this page is that it’s become alive. From here on out, we will be listing many live scams as we come across them.
What does this mean to you? Well, if you are a seller on WebLeeg, PetLeeg, CycleLeeg, BoatLeeg or AutoLeeg and receive an email from someone interested in your product, you can check out our scam alert page here:
http://www.blogleeg.com/2009/06/17/protect-yourself-from-internet-scams/
to see if the email you received is listed as a scam. Even if you don’t find it, you should still be very cautious and do your homework before dealing with anyone on the internet. We will do our best at listing scams as we find them, but we can’t make any promises that we’ll list them all. This is simply a resource to help you make informed choices. The ultimate responsibility lies with you.

We are trying out a little something interesting. If you visit the search pages of WebLeeg, PetLeeg, CycleLeeg, BoatLeeg or AutoLeeg, you’ll notice some links at the bottom of the page. These links point to pages that have already done a state or city search for you. If you click one of the links, you’ll be brought to a page that is broken down by state or city. It’s pretty nifty if I don’t say so myself.
This is just an experiment to see if it makes life easier for those of you who just want to look at ads in your local market. Thoughts? Comments? They are always welcome.
Here are some examples:
- Boats for sale in Florida
- Motorcycles for sale in California
- Cars for sale in California
- Pets for sale in California
- Free classifieds in California

This is just an announcement to inform you that we recently extended the allowable ad duration on our five main classified sites (WebLeeg, PetLeeg, CycleLeeg, AutoLeeg and BoatLeeg).
Earlier, members were able to choose between 1 month, 2 months and 3 months when placing an ad. Today, we changed the durations to 60 days, 90 days, 180 days and 360 days. We will be keeping an eye on the effects of this decision, but feel it will make life easier for those who place hundreds or thousands of ads repeatedly.
